An unforgettable experience

Golf at Wynlakes

The 200 acre championship course winds through rolling hills, 14 shimmering lakes and large oaks with dangling moss. Beautifully manicured fairways and greens, colorful landscaping, and strategically placed fountains and bridges make each hole a splendid visual experience.The golf course, designed by world renowned architect Joe Lee, opened in 1986 and was renovated by Billy Fuller and re-opened in 2006. Diverse course design features such as sculptured fairways, plentiful bunkers, and plateau greens enhance the challenge. Multiple sets of tees offer players of all abilities an enjoyable round.

Hole #1

Par 5 | Handicap 1

The key to having a par five as a starting hole is to make sure it is not reachable in two shots to ensure the hole does not slow play down. Of equal importance is to make the hole a good warm up, but not over bearing. A bunker is placed short and right of the green approach, primarily challenging those who are striving to get home in two. The green is slightly open to the run up shot.

Hole #2

Par 4 | Handicap 7

The feeling for all players on this hole will be a larger driving zone. If you challenge the fairway bunker, the reward will be a shorter second shot. The green is protected by a bunker on the right side and a small false front in line with the middle of the hole.

Hole #3

Par 4 | Handicap 3

The ideal tee shot on this hole will nestle up next to the right side fairway bunkers, offering a better angle to the green. The green complex sits at an angle from the fairway making proper club selection important on the approach.

Hole #4

Par 3 | Handicap 15

A series of collection areas sit immediately ight of the green for what some may consider the bale out area, through it may be more challenging than it appears at first glance.

Hole #5

Par 4 | Handicap 13

The tee is aligned to the centerline of the hole. Several tee placements offer options for those players when a head wind is prevalent, or the course is playing long in general. For those who are willing to risk challenging the waters edge, the reward will be a better angle to the green. The large Pine tree must be navigated when the pin is located on the left side of the green.

Hole #6

Par 4 | Handicap 9

This hole places a priority on the tee shot, especially from the new Championship Tee. A well placed tee shot will leave a mid to short iron approach to a green that is guarded by bunkers front left and right. The putting surface has an area in the back middle and left portions that is difficult to see from the fairway so selecting the correct club is important.

Hole #7

Par 3 | Handicap 17

This hole is slightly shorter, but strategically much stronger. A portion of pin area is guarded by water, with the edge of the left half of the green sitting immediately against the waters edge. The right half of the green can be accessed with a run up shot that sits right of the waters edge. If the pin is left, players will have to make a decision whether to risk challenging the water or play right and take fair game with the putter. Miss it too far right and you will find a collection area mowed at fairway height for an up and down attempt.

Hole #8

Par 4 | Handicap 11

The fairway bunkers frame the tee shot from all of the teeing grounds. The green is more open in the front right half for a run up approach. The green is surrounded by chipping areas and mounding placing a premium on hitting the putting surface.

Hole #9

Par 5 | Handicap 5

The cross water hazard is situated such that many players have to lay up on the second shot, making it virtually impossible to reach the green in three. The green complex is well guarded with bunkers and chipping areas.

Hole #10

Par 4 | Handicap 14

This hole is a classic finesse hole due to the location of the dogleg. The bunker on the far left side of the dogleg will serve as an aiming point for many players, but the long hitters will have to be careful not to over power it unless they bend it correctly. The approach shot is played to a long and narrow green that is protected on all sides by bunkers.

Hole #11

Par 3 | Handicap 16

The green is approximately 9,000 square feet, and there are no bunkers. The green offers a punchbowl feel when viewed from the tees. Many tee shots will receive a friendly bounce onto the putting surface but the size of the green will require the players attention.

Hole #12

Par 4 | Handicap 6

There is a generous driving area even considering the fairway bunkers. The front greenside bunker is ten yards short of the green and there is a swale shaped between the fore bunker and the putting surface. The putting surface is very wide so a player needs to do more than simply hit the green.

Hole #13

Par 5 | Handicap 2

An extremely long hole that is reachable in two shots for only the longest players. The water hazard and fairway bunker frame the approach area requiring a well placed shot for easy access to this green. The putter surface is divided by a slope in the middle making the club selection extremely important.

Hole #14

Par 4 | Handicap 10

The tee shot strategy is to split the middle. The fairway bunkering help dictate a more conservative tee shot. The green is protected by bunkers and chipping areas so an accurate approach shot is required.

Hole #15

Par 4 | Handicap 12

The fairway bunkers are good targets but the longer hitters will have to avoid them at the corner of the dogleg. The approach shot is to a slightly elevated putting surface that slopes from back to front.

Hole #16

Par 5 | Handicap 4

This is a reachable par five for most players that play Tee III and IV. A bunker sits at the far end of the left fairway corner immediately adjacent to the lake, and will identify the lake edge for all players. A bunker is placed just short and right of the green approach the challenge those who like to bale out right to avoid the water. The front pin areas are guarded with bunkers left and right and the Sunday pin placement us back left against the water. Eagles and birdies will have to be earned on this hole!!!

Hole #17

Par 3 | Handicap 18

Every great golf course has a short par three that offers some of the most memorable shots of a round, both good and bad! This is it for Wynlakes! The putting surface moves a rapid 2.25 percent right to left, which means those who bale out right are in for a challenge to save par.

Hole #18

Par 4 | Handicap 8

There are two strategic bunkers on the right side of the landing area and one bunker on the far end of the fairway guarding the lake edge. It will be the perfect target, as long as you do not hit into it. The green is very large (over 10,000 square feet), with plenty of challenging putts! All in all it should offer lasting memories and ample conversation for the 19th hole!!!
